In a voluntary contraction, we are able to activate around 60% of the muscle fibres, while the supramaximal contraction provoked by EMS SHAPE PRO stimulates 100% of the fibres. This causes a rapid depletion of glycogen stores, a local increase in metabolism and the use of fatty acids as fuel. The treatment generates muscle hyperplasia (increase in the number of muscle fibres) and hypertrophy (increase in the volume of these fibres), thus achieving effective muscle toning and strengthening.
